Arataki Track

Description

The Arataki Track is a tramping track and starts with a suspension bridge crossing over the Mangakino stream before following along the Arataki stream amongst regenerating bush and abundant birdlife towards the base of Mt Titiraupenga.

The track terminates at the Titiraupenga Road and YMCA Road ends. Further along Titiraupenga road approximately 7 km is the Centre of the north Island Monument.

Getting There:

The Track starts at the Arataki Road end carpark off SH32 (Tihoi Road). It's 12 km south of Whakamaru Village, and 38 km from Taupo - follow Poihipi Road, then Pakonui road and onto Arataki Road.

The Track starts at the Titiraupenga Road YMCA Road end which is accessed using link and Waimonoa Roads. From SH30, turn onto Barryville Road, then Link Road. From SH32 turn on Kakaho Road which becomes Link Road.

Know Before You Go:

A suspension bridge is located at the start of the track. It has a one person maximum capacity limit.

Dogs with a DOC permit only. Contact closest DOC office to get a permit.
