Hamilton Women@s Social Cycling is a non-competitive, supportive and social cycling group for women of all ages and abilities. E-bikes and manual bikes welcome. The group rides Monday, Thursday and Saturday, from different locations - and wear lycra or not, it makes no difference!
Cycling in a group, is usually more fun than cycling alone, however, getting back on a bike, if you@ve not ridden for a while (perhaps even years), can be daunting!
You may be concerned that you@re not good enough, fast enough, will struggle up hills or you can@t change a puncture. Most of us started out feeling just the same.
We all support each other, especially new riders, most of us can help with a puncture and we ride a variety of routes for mixed competency.
Group rides, both local and out of Hamilton, are mostly on shared paths and trails, with the occasional need to ride on rural roads or mountain bike trails. Each ride has a leader and Tail-end-Charlie to ensure no one gets left behind and riders are looked after.
We encourage rider safety (bright or hi viz clothing and lights), and riders should always consider other trail or road users. Our top priority is to have FUN and most rides include a coffee stop along the way providing the opportunity to get to know the other riders.
Saturday: 9:30am during winter. 9am during summer daylight saving (except January and February 8:30 Saturdays rides start from Wintec on the side of the road. Plenty of parking available.@
